Who were the copyist monks? What were illuminated letters, and how were they created? The workshop will focus on the techniques and tools used in medieval monasteries and on manuscripts illuminated by copyists before the advent of printing. Students will then be involved in creating and decorating a parchment bookmark with an illuminated initial or a miniature with an ink inscription.
