The experience of the Museo del termalismo antico e del territorio at the conference table "The Euganean Thermal Heritage" at the Botanical Garden of Padua
On Wednesday, September 9th, at 6:30 pm, the Botanical Garden of Padua will host the conference "The Euganean Thermal Heritage": a multi-voice dialogue that will focus on the history of the area through scientific research, biodiversity, and thermal practices.
Among the scheduled interventions there will also be one by Chiara Destro, archaeologist and president of Pencil, the association that manages the site on behalf of the Municipality of Montegrotto Terme. Museo del termalismo antico e del territorio. His contribution will focus on the historical and archaeological dimension of Euganean thermalism and the millennia-old relationship between the thermal waters and the territory, documented since antiquity and consolidated in Roman times with the Aquae Patavinae.
The initiative is part of the "Paths for the Enhancement of Veneto's Natural Heritage," a project by the Botanical Garden of Padua funded by the Veneto Region and dedicated to understanding and enhancing the region's natural heritage.
Alongside Chiara Destro, Nicoletta La Rocca, professor at the Department of Biology at the University of Padua, and Fabrizio Caldara, scientific director and head of Research and Development at the "Pietro d'Abano" Thermal Research Center, will speak. The event will therefore be a valuable opportunity to highlight the natural riches of the Euganean Hills region, from the characteristics of the waters and muds and their unique biodiversity to the presentation of the most recent scientific studies and applications in thermal practices.
The museum del termalismo antico e del territorio, the first in Europe entirely dedicated to thermal waters, has contributed to the story of this heritage since its opening in 2021 by connecting the thousand-year history of thermal waters with the local area and the research that still today explores their characteristics and properties.
Participation in the conference is free, subject to registration. here. Reservations also allow entry to the Botanical Garden starting at 5:00 PM.
