A new virtual and immersive experience thanks to 3D viewers

The presentation to the public in a free preview on Sunday 15 December

Discover the process of genesis of thermal waters and the history of their use over the centuries, learn about their impact on the culture and economy of the area: all this through a new immersive virtual reality experience, thanks to the use of 3D viewers. It will be possible soon in our Museum, but Sunday 15 December will kick off this new initiative by allowing visitors to preview and try out the new devices for free, with the support of archaeologists from the Lapis association.

Arrived thanks to a larger project financed by a European call for proposals on the sustainable management of the natural heritage of thermal waters (Interreg Central Europe programme), the eight viewers from January 2025 they will be integrated into the visit itinerary, thus adding an even more innovative and captivating experience. It is the result of the fruitful collaboration of a network of organizations: BIOCE (Homogeneous Hydromineral Basin of the Euganean Hills) Management, Terme Colli Marketing, Pietro d'Abano Thermal Research Center, and the University of
of Padua and the Municipality of Montegrotto Terme.

Guided by the voice of Aponus, the deity linked to the healing waters of the thermal basin, visitors will be able to
Explore the waters' journey to the surface and discover how they were used by the Venetians and later the Romans, from the muddy shores of a lake to the luxurious baths and villa on Via Neroniana (the archaeological excavations of which are located near the Museum), all the way to the modern pools of today's spas. Furthermore, thanks to the development of multilingual software, the virtual journey from ancient to modern spa treatments will be available in both Italian and English, helping to familiarize tourists with the area's history.
