Ceramic vessels have been part of the daily life of ancient populations since the Neolithic, constituting an essential marker for archaeologists' work: but how were these vessels produced? What was the operational chain that led from raw materials to the finished product?
This workshop includes a brief introduction to ceramic production techniques and the main categories of vessels found in Iron Age artifacts and excavation sites in Veneto, with a particular focus on inscribed artifacts. After a brief explanation with images and/or explanatory videos, the students will use one of the manual clay techniques to create their own vases and decorate them, inscribing their names in the Venetic alphabet.
Suitable for classes: Secondary School (or other classes in some institutes)
Duration: 2 hours and a half
